Lent 2026

2026-02-23 22:45:33.022 +0000 UTC
<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The season of Lent - the 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving - begins on Ash Wednesday and end at sundown on Holy Thursday. It is a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we see the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture, we serve by giving alms, and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">For additional information, visit the following:</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.cccb.ca/evangelization-catechesis-catholic-education/video-resources/journey-through-lent/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops</span></a></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="https://formed.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Formed</span></a></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="https://archregina.sk.ca/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Archdiocese of Regina</span></a></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.catholicyyc.ca/blog/deepen-your-lent" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Calgary</span></a></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.scsba.ca/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Saskatchewan Catholic School Boards Association</span></a></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="https://eeparchy.com/2025/03/03/great-lent/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton</span></a></p>
